Visiting a church that you have never been to before can be a challenging experience, but we want to put you at ease. Sturgis Baptist Church is a wonderful place for each member of your family to grow individual spiritual lives with classes every Sunday that target every age group. We want you to have an idea of what to expect when you arrive at SBC.
What to Expect
At SBC, you’ll be welcomed into a friendly, and refreshing environment by people who are excited to see you. Some churches tend to feel like a social club, but we here at Sturgis Baptist Church desire to create an atmosphere that feels more like a family, with people that genuinely care about you and your family. We are thrilled to have visitors in most every service and we will usually begin our services by distributing an introductory packet to all our visitors. During the services you will experience a traditional worship service with God-honoring music and fervent, practical preaching that will challenge you towards a closer walk with the Lord.
No matter who you are or where you’ve been, you’re welcome here.
What Should I Wear
You might be wondering, “What should I wear when I visit ?” While we encourage people to “dress their best” for church, there are many different styles, from jeans to suits. You will find that people from all walks of life and backgrounds feel very much at home at Sturgis Baptist Church. The most important thing is that you feel welcome and comfortable while hearing Biblical preaching that will give you direction and inspiration for your personal walk with God.
What religious group are you a part of?
Sturgis Baptist Church is not affiliated with, or under the authority of, any denominational organization. SBC is a local, visible, and autonomous Baptist church that is independent from all governing bodies. Our sole and final authority for all of our decisions regarding our beliefs, practice, and doctrine is the KJV Bible.
What are you all about?
We seek to honor God and help people by going around the corner and around the world with the Gospel. We believe in having true worship services, and we still have things like community outreach ministries, bus routes, and missions all over the world. When you are at SBC, you are more than just a number. We are blessed to be a group of believers who genuinely love each other, fellowship together, know each other, and lift each other up in prayer. We have an atmosphere that is more like a family, which is how church should be.
Am I expected to participate in the offering?
We do not expect you to participate in the offering when you come to SBC. Our purpose in inviting you to the services is that our services be a gift to you. We hope that you will find a warm family spirit, truth from God’s Word, and a place where you can grow in God’s grace. Please do not feel any obligation to participate in the offering as our guest.
Where do I take my children?
Starting with an excellent nursery and going through High School, there is something special for your children no matter their age. At every service there is a safe, clean nursery for children ages 3 and under. For children that are 4 years old through sixth grade there are fun, friendly, Bible centered classes on Sunday mornings at 10:00 AM. These classes are staffed with friendly, well-qualified teachers and helpers who will teach God’s Word on their level and make church exciting and memorable for your child. We also offer Junior Church for children 4 years old through the 3rd grade during the 11:00 AM preaching service on Sunday mornings.
